In my experience, there is an amazing importance in creating an alkaline body. Most Americans aren’t even aware that they are creating either an acidic or alkaline body!!

The body continually strives to balance pH. When this balance is compromised many problems can occur.  The pH of the body controls and affects all the functions of the body... This is the pH of the body's fluids and tissues which is entirely different from referring to an “acidic stomach”. Research is starting to show that many common diseases may be caused by having a body that is too acidic. When the body is in a constant state of acidity it creates  an environment more prone to disease  Unfortunately, our fast-paced lifestyle, and “unconscious” way of eating  can create an excessive acid load within our bodies. The typical American diet is made up of a collection of acidic foods and beverages.

You can test your own urine or saliva to see what your Ph is by using a PH test strip first thing in the morning, before you have consumed anything. Healthy people will have a PH level of about 7.2 to 7.4

It is said that between 70%-80% of your diet should be alkaline and 30%- 20% acidic. alkaline forming foods in your diet add to the cleansing effect of your digestive system. In addition, having a proper pH balance aids in weight loss.

Most alkaline foods are green vegetables, some fruits, sprouts and seeds. These all have a detoxifying effect when added to your diet. Serious cell degeneration may be controlled and the process of aging be slowed down in an alkaline body.

Acidity Self-awareness

this list can help you get a better idea of the ph balance of your body. This list is from  the book, Alkalize Or Die by Dr. Theodore Baroody.  I feel this book is a must read for anyone committed to creating a healthy body. If you experience the following , it may be an indication of being too acidic.

Below is a chart with some general guidelines for choosing

foods to support an alkaline body

Although this food chart is found in many places on the internet, I took this chart information from http://www.essense-of-life.com/moreinfo/foodcharts.htm which has a lot of interesting information
